Jake grew up in the small town of Holdenville, Oklahoma where he often accompanied his father, Dr. Ron Boyer, on veterinary service calls. After 12 years, Jake and his family moved to south Oklahoma City where he worked in the family business, Boyer Veterinary Clinic, and attended Westmoore High School.
After high school, Jake accepted a scholarship to play football at Montana State University, but after 3 1/2 years of service, he returned home with a Biology degree to pursue a passion he never outgrew. In May of 2005, Dr. Jake Boyer graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Jake recalls recognizing his passion for surgery the first day of junior surgery lab, “Surgery can bring our pets dramatic healing in such a short amount of time.” His veterinary passions also include puppy and kitten wellness visits and helping solve the unique challenges of shelter pets. Dr. Jake has advanced training in spay neuter surgery at both local and national conferences. He has volunteered at the OKC shelter and other nonprofit spay neuter clinics collectively performing over 30,000 spay neuter surgeries for Oklahoma & Texas pet owners.
Dr. Jake has been married to wife Amanda for 17 years, and together they have a family of seven (+1 canine) including twin boys Luke & Sam born November 2015; 3 year old Jacob, definitely Momma’s boy; his pride, 5 year old Ethan “The Destroyer”; his joy, 10 year old Emma “Super-helper”, and the Weimaraner, Sadie with an unbreakable spirit.
Dr. Jake also enjoys home improvement projects, vegetable gardening, sporting events, farm animals, family, friends, children, and Lifechurch
Amanda (Mandy) grew up in rural Towanda in the heartland of Illinois. As a child she enjoyed playing hide-and-seek in the corn fields, kick the can on late summer nights, and vacationing at Lake of the Ozarks. She went to junior high and high school at nearby Normal, IL where she played volleyball and ran track.
After high school, Mandy was captivated by the Rocky Mountains of Bozeman, Montana and accepted a scholarship to play volleyball at Montana State University. But after meeting husband Jake, she moved to Oklahoma where she pursued her lifelong passion of nursing. Mandy achieved her associate’s degree in nursing in 2003 from Oklahoma City Community College and began working as a critical care nurse for the Norman Regional Hospital System. Mandy has gained valuable experience caring for human patients and feels it is her calling to serve people.
Mandy’s experience as a nurse has given her just what she needed to be married to a veterinarian. Her skills in critical care and as a charge nurse comforting patients have given her a unique angle in caring for canine patients and their owners. She is especially sweet on those little black and tan weenie dogs.
Mandy has been married to Dr. Jake Boyer for 17 years and has Emma, Ethan, Jacob, Luke and Sam to keep her busy when she is not at the clinic. Mandy’s parents have since moved to Oklahoma to be near their grandkids, and she feels blessed to have them so close.
Outside of her career, Mandy’s passions are mothering, cooking, scrapbooking, reading, biking, photography, and a good night’s sleep.
Crystal was born in Long Beach, CA and raised in Coweta, OK. Growing up, her first animal was a cat. He was a tabby named Alex. He lived a long, healthy life and Crystal misses him very much. Crystal remembers spending most of her childhood as a cheerleader. She was a cheerleader from 5th grade through 12th grade and was also on an All-Star cheer squad. Crystal reached the pinnacle of her cheer career at the age of 21 when she became a semi-pro cheerleader for the Tulsa Talons, an arena football team. Cheer was her passion, but she soon realized another passion, starting a family.
Crystal’s family includes her husband Rob and four children: Austin age 19, currently attending OSU in Stillwater; Sheridan age 17, in her senior year of high school, following in her mother’s footsteps as an All-American Cheerleader; Kamryn age 10, also an All-Star cheerleader; and Jax age 8 who is all about baseball and football. She also has two spoiled cats who she calls her babies. Tank is a laid back, 14 pound black and grey tabby who loves to cuddle and has the prettiest green eyes, and Bo is a 12 pound white and grey tabby/Siamese mix who has beautiful blue eyes. Crystal says she (Bo) is a princess kitty.
Crystal’s love and passion for animals led her to pursue a career as a Registered Veterinary Technician. She is now in her final year of Vet tech school and will graduate with an Associates Degree in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology in May 2017.
Crystal spends her time away from the clinic at the gym lifting weights, running outdoors, participating in obstacle course runs and attending her children’s various activities and sporting events. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and children by staying active and just enjoying life.
Mandy was born and raised in Moore, OK. Growing up, Mandy and her sister always had pets. Her first dog was a very intelligent Shelty named Romeo who chewed everything in sight. Mandy rescued Romeo, a parvo surviver, and took him home on Valentine’s Day. He was her sweetheart for many years.
Mandy also remembers spending most of her childhood dancing. It was this passion that led to her most memorable role as “Clara” in the Nutcracker. She performed in the Dallas area during the Christmas season.
After graduating from Moore High School in 1996, Mandy decided to pursue a career in pet service, attending OSU-OKC’s veterinary technician program. She also began working in the veterinary field for Ranchwood Veterinary Hospital. But her career was put on hold when she discovered her passion for raising a family. After three small children, numerous PTA meetings, soccer practices, gymnastics, and much more, she has returned to pet service.
Mandy’s previous veterinary experience and her passion for pets made her position at SpayXperts an easy choice. We are fortunate to call her one of our Xperts.
Mandy’s family includes her three children: Trenton age 16 whom she calls T-man, Jaxon age 12 who wants to live at home forever, and Brooklyn age 11 who adds spunk to any room; her husband Rob and his three children. Mandy’s sister lives in Wichita now but visits often, and she is close with her parents who still live in Moore. And let’s not forget the four legged family members: three dogs, Brody the Yorkie who keeps the rest in line, Derby the Dorkie who always has something in his mouth, Roxy The Princess Cocker Spaniel; plus a few chickens and a handful of goats.
Mandy spends her time away from the clinic sewing, shuttling her kids to various activities, and her most recent interest, West Coast Swing dance lessons. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, serving at church, and much more.
